Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Lee Ching Dea Memorial College has been awarded Hanson Outstanding Award (Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary). The school has long been promoting environmental conservation and put enormous efforts on educating students and the community persistently.
To reduce energy consumption while keeping a comfortable environment, the school has undergone major renovation subject to the 4Ts chapter scheme in recent years. Control strategy for air-conditioning is adopted in classrooms, where air temperature is the major control parameter. Besides, low efficient split type air-conditioning units are replaced by new models for a higher energy efficiency. The management team has also arranged separate power meters for different space such as classrooms, school hall and other function rooms for easy monitoring and effectively focus on energy usage of different space. As a result, with colossal efforts expedited, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Lee Ching Dea Memorial College has achieved an impressive energy conservation year over year.
In addition, there are well established school policies that enforce environmental education within the school curriculum that influence not only students, but also school management team as well as education staff. On the other hand, the school has spent great efforts on engaging students in various environmental programme and energy audit exercise, through which students and staff are well aware of the energy conservation initiatives adopted. Also, the college has been an active player in participating diverse environmental campaigns.
