Tseung Kwan O Hospital

Tseung Kwan O Hospital is the winner of Hanson Outstanding Award (Hospital). It is a relatively new hospital with old and new blocks for serving different medical functions. The new block, Ambulatory Care Block, as a Platinum winner of BEAM Plus, is facilitated with various green and energy saving design features including daylight harvesting in main hall and green roof. Solar system installed on roof top which demonstrates commitment to environmental friendliness of the intent. Window solar film are also applied at main entrance skylight that effectively reduces solar heat and hence saving air-conditioning consumption. Meanwhile the courtyard maximizes daylight penetration and provides natural cross ventilation. The hospital is a role model of integrating green features and renewable energy into building design.

The hospital implements "Energy Management Opportunities" projects such as the replacement of aging air-cooled chillers by oil-free chillers to further reduce energy consumption. Various energy monitoring mechanisms and technologies are also adopted such as the use of CLP "Meter Online" to monitor the trend of power loading and energy audit for energy consumption analysis. To engage the staff in energy saving, the hospital organizes joint programme with CLP to promote the awareness on energy saving.
