The Royal Pacific Hotel & Towers

The Royal Pacific Hotel & Towers is a sizable hotel comprises two building blocks on a podium floor. The large-scale enhancement program was planned out as old system used in the building was time to update. Royal Pacific Hotel & Towers has received The Hanson Outstanding Award (Hotel). The management team has shown their enthusiasm on energy conservation in the program and deserve praises.

The hotel had signed up Energy Saving Charter since 2016. Various energy saving measures have been implemented including upgrade the existing lighting and air-conditioning system to higher energy efficiency alternatives. For instance, the guest rooms are provided with LED lighting and occupancy power controls system. Moreover, occupancy sensors are installed in staircase to reduce energy use when no one pass by. For the air-conditioning system, DC fan coil units are adopted to replace traditional installation in guestroom. Additional electric heat pumps are installed to replace the electric heater during peak period and winter season. In the chiller plant, variable frequency drive control is introduced into the air handling unit to minimize energy waste. These technological approaches are ordinary but result in significant energy saving.

Staffs are required to attend a briefing on hotel's environmental as well as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices. Other green operation related knowledge and procedures are embedded in other regular staff training. The hotel also shares and exchanges green information among members of Hong Kong Hotel Association Green Initiatives.
