The Harbourview, a hospitality service provider, has targeted to reduce energy consumption with ambition. In order to achieve the target, a program of renovation and upgrading guestrooms in the design of environmental friendly has been started. Comprehensively, management team has emphasized the significance of personal energy saving practices as well as technologies in raising energy efficiency. Building external windows were replaced by higher thermal performance alternatives that reduce significant energy expenses on air-conditioning. Aged chillers are retrofitted and mono-crystalline solar system has been involved in the program as well. By adopting Multi-function heat pump chiller, the heat released from air conditioning can be used to heat the water so the consumption of towngas for boiling the hot water can be reduced.
The Harbourview understands the importance of raising staff awareness of energy conservation. They arrange environmental visits and talks for staff regularly and carry out surveys to check the learning effectiveness. Regular audit are also conducted to ensure the staff has complied with the best practices to achieve energy saving. Besides, different stickers were affixed near the light switch as well as air condition controller to remind guests to save energy.
