Mikiki is the winner of Hanson Outstanding Award (Shopping Mall). The shopping mall is managed by a professional facility management team who takes energy saving a major agenda item in their daily operation. Under the 4Ts framework, the management team plans to implement various energy saving measures which mainly include the replacement of fluorescent light from T5 to LED for the lightboxes as well as adjusting chiller sequence for "winter" and "summer" modes. Mikiki has invented a carpark cooling system which reuses condensate water from mall central air-conditioning system as cooling medium in ventilation system in the carpark; and has effectively reduced the temperature of the carpark. The system won HKAEE Property Management (Commercial & Industrial) Bronze Award 2017 and showed the team's eagerness to adopt innovative measures in energy saving.
To further increase the participation of tenants in environmental protection and energy saving work, free energy assessments services are provided to the tenants so that they can know more about their energy consumptions and adopt appropriate measures to improve energy efficiency. LED samples have also been installed for the tenants to promote the benefits of using energy-saving products in long term. Besides, the management team has cooperated with NGOs and CLP to organize energy saving activities for tourists, tenants and residents nearby to enhance public awareness of energy conservation.
