Kwai Shing Sheltered Workshop is awarded the "Hanson Outstanding Award (Non-governmental Organization / Community Facilities)". Apart from providing daily service, the Workshop also strives to support environmental protection. Under the 4Ts Charter, the Workshop formulated energy saving measures which include affixing reminders near the switches of lamp, air conditioners and other electric appliances to remind staff members and service users to turn off electric appliances when not in use, and replacement of T8 and T12 light tubes by T5 light tubes, compact fluorescent lamps and LED light fittings. Furthermore, the Workshop takes energy efficiency performances into consideration when purchasing electric appliances.
Besides, the Workshop participated in CLP GreenPLUS Energy Billboard which provides reports that comparing the energy consumption against peers within the same industry, allowing the Workshop to know more about its energy efficiency performance.
To heighten the awareness of energy conservation and environment protection among staff members and service users, information about energy saving and other green issues is distributed through meetings, motice board, email and instant messaging. Staff members are also appointed as Green Ambassador to motivate colleagues and service users to implement energy saving measures as well as to build a green culture in the office.
