Objectives
- To promote household LED lamps usage and introduce the advantages of LED lamps
- To increase public awareness on selection of LED lamps with Voluntary Energy Efficiency Label during light bulb procurement
Theme and Requirement
- To design household lamp lantern with AC 220V power input
- The lamp lantern shall use LED light bulb as the lighting source assembly with light bulb holder and basic control components

- Individual or group (maximum 3 students)

- Individual, group or organisation (maximum 3 persons)
Participants can ONLY join either one of the above categories.
Competition Stage
The Competition consists of 2 stages:
Stage 1 (Completed) requires a Design Proposal in specified format. The Judging Panel will assess the submitted design to select finalists for the second stage.
Stage 2 will be the model development based on the first stage Design Proposal.
Stage 1: Design Proposal[Completed]
The applicant can choose from one of the follow areas for their design proposal:
- Illumination for reading/working at home
- Illumination for living room
- Illumination for dining room
- Household applications in other living space
Stage 2: 1:1 Model Development[Completed]
The selected finalists shall produce a 1:1 mock-up model based on the Stage 1 Design Proposal.

The applicant shall submit the following documents to the Organizer before the deadline (21 December 2020) .

Assessment
- The entries of the Competition will be assessed according to 2 stages of the Competition.
- The assessment criteria include the application of LED technology, energy saving, creativity & originality, aesthetics, functionality & practicality and safety.
- There shall be a maximum of 10 finalists selected from each group to enter into Stage 2 1:1 Model Development. The judging panel reserves the right to vary the number of finalists if the judging panel considers the quality level of some entities worth to enter into Stage 2 of the Competition.
- The selected finalists are required to produce a mock-up model and it is the finalists’ responsibility to ensure the mock-up model are produced according to the Design Proposal.
- The finalists may be required to present their designs in front of the Judging panel in Stage 2 assessment.

Note:
With the aim of promoting energy saving through the use of LED light bulb, applicants are encouraged to use only LED light bulb in the entries. Otherwise, applicants will be subject to a mark penalty if lighting source other than LED light bulb are being used.
Judging Panel
The Judging Panel will be comprised of professional engineers and designers from Engineering Institution, Lighting Commission and Designers Associations.
