"Smart Cozy" aims to solve lapses in the school's air-conditioning design, applying affordable, smart technology to control add-ons such as fanblades installed in the vents of window-type air conditioners. ”Smart Cozy” comprises of two parts: "Smart Comfort" and "Smart Use".
"Smart Comfort" uses temperature sensors installed in different locations within a classroom to collect data, which is then sent to a cloud database. The system uses this database to control the smart fanblades accordingly, so that they automatically adjust the direction of airflow, in order to maintain a uniform temperature across the classroom. This uniform temperature helps to reduce unnecessary use of electricity. In addition, this system connects each air-conditioner to a smart switch which pre-cools a room in a step-by-step process before occupancy, and switches off air conditioners in an unused classroom. The smart switch reduces the large energy consumption involved in sudden cooling as well as unnecessarily cooling vacant rooms.
"Smart Use" includes dust filter cleaning and general maintenance reminders. A light sensor is placed behind the dust filter to detect its cleanliness level, and when too much dust is detected, the LED installation lights up, reminding the users to clean it. In addition, the database records the purchase date of each air conditioner, and regularly reminds the management staff, via SMS, to replace the refrigerant, and perform maintenance checks.
To sum up, "Smart Cozy" is a conveniently practical solution for a school air-conditioning system. It reduces power consumption efficiently, provides a more comfortable learning environment and, with proper maintenance, improves overall efficiency and longevity of air-conditioners.
