Ng Yuk Secondary School is the award winner of Hanson Outstanding Award (School (Primary and Secondary)). The school is a landmark of the district for their persistent role model of advocator of environmental conservation. The school is enriched with educational opportunities for students. Creative and interactive programmes lead by dedicated green education team have received high participation rate by the students which has also made energy conservation an interesting elements in the school curriculum.
To reduce energy use while keeping a comfortable environment, solar window film has been applied to classroom windows. Green roof has been constructed for over 10 years and served as effective insulation layer to floors under roof structure. Solar heat is reduced by passive design approach of green walls which are made by recycled materials. Motion sensing devices are installed at lift lobbies for lighting controls. Air conditioners and lighting installation in classroom have been retrofitted for energy conservation.
The school has long been participating in local and overseas competitions. Awards are received for their original design concepts and energy conservation prototypes. Students are invited to serve the school and community as energy saving ambassador.
