Hong Kong Baptist University ‐ Jockey Club School of Chinese Medicine Building

Hong Kong Baptist University ‐ Jockey Club School of Chinese Medicine Building is Chinese medical educational complex in the campus. It is a multipurpose building which comprises teaching, laboratory facilities as well as an outpatient centre. The building is awarded Hanson Outstanding Award (Post‐Secondary Education Institution).

The campus management team has established environmental policy. The team implements energy conservation measures to the building in associated with the frameworks set by the Health and Safety Committee. The campus management team actively engages students in various environmental protection programmes and fairly high participation rates have been reported.

New chillers have been installed to replace aged equipment. Remarkable energy saving is reported after the retrofit. Lighting retrofit has also been carried out in public areas of the building. There are LED exit signs and LED tubes to replace existing conventional lighting installations. Since the laboratory in the building demands for 24 hours of ventilation and controls of space air conditions at the same time, sophisticated fume cupboards and associated management system have been adopted. As such, wastage of indoor conditioned air via the exhaust system has been reduced remarkably.
