HHCKLA Buddhist Leung Chik Wai College

HHCKLA Buddhist Leung Chik Wai College has been awarded Hanson Grand Award (School (Primary and Secondary)). The school has long been promoting environmental conservation and put efforts on educating students and the community persistently.

There are well established school policies such as "Environmental Resource Management Scheme". Teaching staff and students signed up for Energy Saving Charter. These enforce environmental education within the school curriculum that influence not only students, but school management team as well as education staff. The school has set pre−determined targets for energy and environmental conservation performance so that action plans can be developed and implemented in a well−managed manner.

The school has spent continual efforts on engaging students in various environmental programmes organized by the society. The efforts of the teachers and students have been recognized and a number of awards were received in open campaigns and programmes in the past.

Energy saving programmes such as energy saving lighting retrofit have been executed with the support of government funding schemes. The lighting in classrooms are replaced with LED light tubes. Moreover, central control switches for air−conditioners have been installed in every classroom of the school which only allows the use of air−conditioners only at certain room temperature. The energy saving programme has benefited students on reducing their annual air−conditioners fees while supporting green initiatives of the school.
